In my paper I plan to answer the question, How is social media effecting the hospitality industry and in what ways does it better the industry? Social media and the social network has really impacted the world today and the way we live our lives, the hospitality industry is rapidly growing and many hotels and restaurants are on the web, social networking. It is a great marketing tool for many of these operations. I already know a lot about social media and how it can be used for many different things. We all use it for facebook, and we even use it for classes such as blogging as we do here. Many of us enjoy the satisfaction of being able to use a computer and search the web, I am sure most of us do it everyday. So in that case companies and operations can use the web for advertising or even networking. I know of hotels that have facebooks and they let all of their "friends" know certain specials or deals you can get for the month or week. It is a fast way to interact with future customers or even past customers. You can answer questions that anyone may have and you can also let everyone see how willing you are to satisfy your customers. I also researched a company in vegas that has their own website which allows customers to interact with other customers before you even go on your trip. I feel that social networking and the media is am excellent way to sell whatever you are trying to sell. It also allows customers to give you quick feedback on their thoughts. I need to find out more operations that use this tool and I want to see if I can find more positive or maybe perhaps negative feedback on the social media aspect of marketing your business. An argument that may oppose mine is social networking is not a useful tool for the hospitality industry and there are better ways to do marketing. Some sources I have looked at so far is the "Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management", "The Cornell Quarterly", "Marketing for Hospitality and Tourism"and I also found a couple newspaper articles, "Now, What happens Online Prepares you for Las Vegas" This was very interesting, it's the Vegas online social networking site.

"Ha ha," he said. "Ha ha." & Plagiarism
I found the laugh tracks article interesting and I seemed to find it very true. When watching those sitcoms you do hear the background laughing, which then tends to make us laugh. I can also say I have been watching t.v. where someone I watching it with laughed, I however may have not found it too funny, but found myself laughing as well. Also when you hear a background audience laughing, it makes the real audience laugh. I like how he gave the Friends example, and then later said that it is similar to the human you would find while filling out a mad lib. It is like it made completely no sense, but the actors are laughing along with the laugh tracks, which then lead us to laughing.
While reading the plagiarism article I can agree how it is so much more common these days because of our technology. While sitting at the computer it is so easy to just copy and paste from the internet onto our very own document and it takes nothing but seconds. Back in the day they would sit in libraries with a book or journal or some type of article that you could not do that with. I feel as though many of us do that without even acknowledging we are. It also said how many of us were not really taught the correct way to write and/or site your findings. I can say when I was in middle school and high school, I was taught it once and when I got to college I had to learn it all over again. I like how Ms. Wilensky said, "It's kind of an insult that that ideal is gone, and now we're left only to make collages of the work of previous generations." I likes that because I find it very true, i'm sure many people just take ideas from many others and put it into their own paper that then, make it a collage if this is also being done by authors and scholars.

Annotated Bibliography
Woods, Robert. "Who Wrote What About When." The Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly 32.2 (1991): 89-95. Print.
This article " Who Wrote What About When" is about how in the hospitality industry few works talk about the development and growth of history, they mainly talk about biographies, company history or the customers. Things that would be very helpful for the industry and would gain outsiders attention would be industries demographics of the customers and the employees or even the service interaction, how they interact with their customers. Also these works should include managerial topics, recruitment, and training practices, benefit packages as well. It also states how most four year programs only focus on teaching us about management skills and tasks, however they don't focus on the big picture such as what management means and what it means to the industry.

Your Brain on Computers-Attached to technology and Paying a Price
It was funny, as I reading this online, I notice, I have a tab open for facebook, i-mail, my moodle account and this, and my cell phone is sitting right next to me. I am being highly distracted by my cell phone, and facebook notifications coming to it, which then lead me to the facebook tab, and so forth. To me technology is so distracting, however its not the technology I feel it is more the social network. I actually deactivated my facebook for a month or so some time ago, and it was kind of relieving, I didn't feel as though I needed to get on a check it every 5 seconds. In the article they were talking about cell phone usage while driving, which today causes so many accidents and this was never a problem say 15 years ago. So many people have smart phones these days which is just like a mini computer, it goes everywhere with you and is a great distraction especially in class rooms. His daughter said that technology was more important than family, that goes to show how much technology is just taking over lives, and its younger and younger each year it seems. I didn't get a cell phone untill I was in 8th grade, my younger sister got hers when she was in 6th. I notice when I multitask I retain less knowledge. If I am using my cell phone to check facebook during class, I didnt pay attention to a thing my professor was saying. I definitely agree this is all based more on an individual perspective. I am sure there are some people out there who are actually really good at multitasking. It explains how facebook and the phone took over mrs.campbell for a bit and then forgot about her cookies, and burnt them twice. I can totally see how that could happen, I lose my train of thought once I get on the phone or even the computer such as facebook and I could completely forget what I was doing or what I wanted to do. The social network I feel is more impacting on us more so than just the internet.
